Charles Beilman
Charles Beilman is a FAA licensed pilot and owns a Piper Commanche airplane based near Wallingford CT.
Charles Beilman has been a licensed pilot for the past 25 years.
He is instrumented rated and enjoys flying his IFR rated airplane.
"I can remember one time flying through rain so heavy that I found it hard to believe that the engine didn't die out" explained Charles Beilman.
"Water was pouring in from the air vents and the sound was so loud I could barely hear air traffic control while wearing my David Clark passive headset."
This is a photograph of an airplane very similar to Charles Beilman's.
My plane is a 1961 Piper Comanche. It has a 250 HP normally aspirated six cylinder engine with retractable landing gear.
The plane seats 4 people and crusies at 180 MPH.
The plane has a service ceiling of 20,000 but the highest I've every been was 13,500 feet trying to clear the tops of a cloud build-up in front of me.
Normal cuising altitude is about 5,000 to 7,000 feet.
